Crawl Spaces from a waterproofing point of view are considered mini basements. Many of the same components are used such as a perimeter pressure relief system. Grate Drain channel, sumps, sump pumps, and vapor barrier are all utilized the same way as an actual basement waterproofing system is installed ( see Basement Waterproofing Products ). The only difference is that a crawl space is a much more confined space and requires an extra effort since all of the work is performed lying down or kneeling.
Specific to crawl spaces are certain products that will encapsulate the entire floor and walls to prevent any moisture or gases from the soil from entering the crawlspace and eventually rising up to the living area. Below are a list of those components.
